Prayers For Your Child

Visit me at my new website - anniecrawford.com
I recieved the following email from Angie Iles and found it very encouraging. I have been pondering this year how "the joy of the Lord is our strength", and I wonder, where is my joy? Upon reflection of this email from Angie, I remembered the Word of our Lord, "you have not because you ask not." (James 4:2) "Ask that you may recieve and that your joy would be made full." (john 16:24) My prayer life is meager, for varrious reasons, yet prayer is the main way in which God reveals Himself to us, for our Joy! He is a joy to behold, but if I don't come to Him and ask Him for life and all my needs, how will I have the joy of seeing Him work? And there is no area of my life where I would more rejoice to see His miraculous hand work wonders than in the life of my child.

"hey ladies,

i have just started reading "Praying The Scriptures For Your Children"
by Jodie Berndt. it is such a wonderful book, providing such helpful
guidance as brad and i learn to "pray without ceasing" for olivia. in
the chapter on "praying for your child's salvation", jodie shared a
mother's experience with praying for her children. it is such an
amazing example, encouraging us to be faithful to pray for our child's
salvation. please read this incredible testimony, of a mom just like
us. it's never too early or too late to start praying for your child's
salvation. i love what this mom says, "i prayed that as long as we
would be allowed to enjoy our children on earth, it would be long
enough for them to accept Christ as their Savior"...

mothering with you,
angie

"Before each of my children was born, I prayed that they would be
FIRST a Christian and SECOND healthy. I prayed that as long as we
would be allowed to enjoy our children on earth, it would be long
enough for them to accept Christ as their Savior. In other words,
please let them live to be saved--however old or however young.
This prayer has been answered for two of my children so far, but very
significantly in Abner IV's life. You may know that he died at age
seven and a half. Seven months prior to his unexpected death, Abner
prayed with his father to accept Christ and was baptized the next
week. God let him live long enough to be saved.
This is even more interesting as we found out exactly what Abner died
of (it took nine weeks to determine). Endocardial fibroelastosis is
very rare. We were told that Abner's case would be published in a
medical journal because in the last forty years, only two other people
in the world had ever lived past age one with this condition.
And I keep thinking, GOD LET HIM LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO BE SAVED. Praise Him!"

these are some of the verses that are listed in the book, to pray over
your child~

Remove the veil from ______'s eyes so that he can see the light of the
gospel. Shine your light in his heart to give him the light of the
knowledge of your glory in the face of Christ.(2 Corinthians 4:4-6)

Open ______'s eyes and turn him from darkness to light, and from the
power of Satan to God, so that he may receive forgiveness of sins and
a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ.(Acts 26:18)

I pray that ______ would confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord,
and that he would believe in his heart that You have raised Christ
from the dead. Cause ______ to call on Your name, Lord, and save
him.(Romans 10:9,13)

Count _____ as one of your people, and be her God. Give her a
singleness of heart and action, so that she will always fear you for
her own good and for the good of her children. Make an everlasting
covenant with _____. Never stop doing good to her, and inspire her to
fear you so that she will never turn away from you.(Jeremiah 32:39-40)

I pray that ______, being rooted and established in love, may have
power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and
high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that
surpasses all understanding, that _____ may be filled to the measure
of all the fullness of God.(Ephesians 3:18-19)"
